Whatever Nationwide races she enters will become the ESPN Danica Show for 2-3 hours.

True that. No matter how bad she runs.

BTW, just how much faith would you put in a driver that just signed a three year deal for another team in another series, only to come sign a two year deal with you?

Are you suggesting that she will shirk her contractual obligations in one area in order to fulfill them in another?

Or do you just remain pizzed that she's a girl and she got a ride in a top car?

Not that she is a girl, just another race winning car being driven by one who is not and will not be capable of winning. see also: John Wes Townley/RCR. If she was to put in ten races with , hmm lemme think of a good place to start, let's say the 61, 90/91, 0, 07, 47,01, any of the unfunded teams that could really benefit from the sponsors she could bring, and that might get to race whole races with her money, then I might have absolutely no issue at all with her presence. But if her only contribution is to take up space in a top tier car, and line Hendrick's and Junior's already fat wallets, then count me out.

I think it will be interesting to watch. She obviously has talent and all the other intangibles.

Fine with me ... you're out. Townley couldn't carry her jock, never mind her helmet bag. Oh, wait ...

Let's do a little role reversal, Mr. D. You've got some considerable seat time in lesser forms of Stock Car racing. Let's equate that to Danica's 81 Indy Car races with 1 victory (albeit a fuel mileage/strategy win believed by many to have been orchestrated by Roger and Chip in order to further their own ambitions), 16 top 5's, 46 top 10's, 3 poles and $5.276 million in on-track earnings in a series that basically pays tow money to everyone who finishes 2nd or worse ... Indy 500 excepted, of course.

For the purposes of this role-reversing conjecture, let us say that your accomplishments at short tracks all over California and Oregon are the equal of her 230 mph blasts down the front stretch at Indianapolis in every way and there is no way to choose between you. A NASCAR Nationwide team owner cannot choose ... he tosses a coin and it's your lucky day.

You consider the offers from the owner and your sponsors, look at the schedule in the ICS and decide that you can indeed make this work. After due deliberation, weighing all the options and looking into your very character, you make your decision.

You reject the offer from the owner whose car, constructed and developed by the venerated HMS organization and driven by a brash newcomer, has battled at the front with two of the best Cup drivers in the garage, in even better Nationwide cars, all season long. Your choice is, of course, to take your bagful of sponsor cash to one of the underfunded teams, barely able to finish races on the lead lap, in order that they might enjoy a modicum of success. You look forward to struggling through the contracted races with inferior equipment, no experience whatsoever in these cars and a less than stellar crew chief and crew without a moment's thought as to the consequences because you know it's the right thing to do.

I salute you, Lovey. You are a man's man. Or a girl's girl, assuming it was tails.

The entire NASCAR Now was devoted to her. We got to see past clips (over and over) of her one win, and endless speculation. The information they did give is that she joined JR Motorsports because of Rick Hendrick (how thin is that guy spread?), but there was no speculation about $$ which I'm really curious about given her million dollar per race demand.

If I was her I'd be using my off time to test like crazy so I made a respectable show of the Daytona ARCA race because you know the ratings for that race will probably break records.

People ask me all the time, where does he stack up, comparatively?  I’ve seen every great driver drive, I’ve seen every great driver win their championships.  In my mind, this driver, this crew chief, this team is the all time best - bar none.  I saw Petty, I saw Earnhardt, I’ve seen Gordon, I’ve seen Bill Elliott, Rusty Wallace, Terry Labonte, this is the best.”- DW on Jimmie Johnson

It's gonna be good exposure for the Nationwide Series but I seriously doubt she'll be even running midpack.
I'll admit I'll be watching just out of curiosity.

I will give her something, at least she's won in a full-size vehicle.
To my knowledge, Regan Smith hasn't won a race since he ran go-karts in 1998. Someone tell me why he's in a Cup car?? Pretty sad when his claim to fame is that, for a while, he never had a DNF in a Cup race. Oh yeah, and he got stripped of a win at Talladega.

no different than when it was the Juan Pablo Montoya show in Cup when he started.. it's a big deal.. I don't blame them for getting mileage off of it.

The JPM show will pale in comparison to The Danica! Show.

Maybe ESPN/ABC can get Todd Harris back in the booth next season. I can hear it now, "Welcome to Daytona for the first Nationwide race of 2010 and the debut of rookie sensation, Danica Patrick!"

Okay fine. She is here. Don't come whining to me when you miss just about anything that actually happens in the races because we are focused on her charge to 24th from her 26th place starting position.

I must let you know something I should have let johnalex in on long ago: long winded tirades that start with a slam on me will seldom get read in the entirety by me.

Other than that, I gotta admit that your johnalex impersonation is spot on. LOL

^^ What if you're wrong? Has the possibility that she may find success in these cars ever occurred to you? The Japanese kid subbing for Glock ran up front right away, despite his fabulous 16th spot in the GP2 ranks, a series that interestingly runs ... 16 cars.

I think she'll do all right. Should we set a standard by which either of us will eat the crow?
