You wouldn't want to release information about the design, after all Ferrari and McLaren have already employed a team of spies so they can copy the design.

Why can't they show us what is in Area 51 ?

.... could be a secret ?

Now that's it, they have a team of aliens from XRP9 in the cat's eye nebula designing the car.
I'm placing my bet today while the odds are astronomical.

I tuned in hoping to be assured of USF1's credibility.
Disappointingly I left even more doubtful.
I wish them the best of luck and will love to see an American team in F1 but at this point they offer little credibility.

You must be English or something. Every time I go to a Forum that deals with F-1...there's all of this negative commentary about how us Ameicans are too stupid to have an F-1 car. I just quit a forum that I've been on for 5 years that's based in Australia, that has Euro's telling me how stupid us yankees are.

Is that any way to greet a new poster?
Sorry to disappoint but I'm as American as they come.

I'm a new poster too. Sorry... I don't expect them to be competitive, but I don't doubt they will have a couple of cars to race.
Like most things with F-1...I think there's some politics involved with Cosworth getting the contracts for all of these new teams. They seem t have made a powerful engine, but it certainly wasn't very reliable when Williams had them before.
Which leads me to something to something completely different. Why is Williams leaving Toyota ? Why did Kubica turn down a job with Toyota ? For Renault ? After Alonso said last week that he thought the Renault was the worst car on the track ?
It makes me think that Toyota might not be back next year....certainly not for 2011.

Jeekers people! If Peter was seriously unsure of them making it to the grid next year, I am sure he wouldn't be doing all this stuff, and would have just gone back to not saying anything. They don't want to get our hopes up just to get let down, just as much as we don't want to get let down after getting our hopes up.

What I saw was an extremely hastily put together segment, (probably on a weekend when most people were at home) some extremely bad acting (Steve looking ingenuine was due to him not being a professional actor), and USF1 not wanting to show too much of their development the same way every other team ever doesn't show what they are doing to their new cars.

Stop thinking they won't be there, they will

They may be there but not as USF1.
While I think that they initially had every expectation of launching a credible team the deal that the FIA and FOTA reached changed the situation enough to make their entrance much more difficult. Combine this with the scarcity of sponsor money these days and their biggest asset is their assigned grid spot. At this point they may well merge with a team like Sauber which has the facilities in place but no entry.

No offense taken.
My Brit friend did get a kick out of hearing me described as same though;)

You know what Korda.... I just don't see F-1 letting a team in from the U.S. unless they feel pretty good about how it's going to go. And this is not something that was put together overnight. It's something they have been working on for 2 years. I read some of the posts in this thread.. I saw guys talking about how they got engineers that nobody wanted. Common man ?
We're in a period where F-1 is a series that the cars are almost Spec cars. To a point where engineers are reduced to doing " consultant" work. I have no doubt there's plenty of engineers out there willing to take ANY work.
Time will tell I guess.

Indeed we will. The thing about F1 today is that the fan has little if any idea of what's really happening behind the scenes.
As of today Toyota F1 engineers are sending out CVs as well.

Beat me to that one.

I'd rather not talk about beating anything when it comes to a discussion about Bill and Monica.

I guess I'm not really "pulling" for USF1 like most of you. I haven't been impressed with the way they've handled themselves in the PR department so far and this amateurish video (of which I would place some of the blame on SPEED) didn't help much.

I give them half a season.
