Finished 14th and didn't even have to spin Clint Bowyer to get there.
Needed a thread not about Dale Jr or rain so one about JPM seemed like it would fit the bill. Come to think of it wasn't Juan nicknamed Fire when he was at McLaren? So we've got Fire and Rain there...
Here's some James Taylor to calm everyone down.

Did you know he has a newly redone website?

I love him in red. EGR looked good as team at Daytona. Hopefully they can keep it up for the season.

I am bummed. JPM is my fav driver. He got no drafting help today, it seemed. He drove a great race all considering. I think he could have been near the front had it gone the distance.
Not sure how EGR is going to perform the rest of the year (hopefully well) but I look forward to the remaining plate tracks this year. Hopefully, Juan gets that first oval win, in NASCAR, this season.
And I concur with Sabrina, Juan looks great in those new-old Target colors.
Mearn, when JPM signed with Mclaren he was going to have a blow torch painted on the back of his helmet melting ice cubes (reference to his then new teammate, Kimi Raikkonen, F1's so-called "ice man").

Yiphee! My favorite person to talk about

When Juan messed up in the shoot out and lost 10 spots or so he got them back on his own. I listen on the scanner and no one would work with him so that makes me feel even better knowing he can do it and he's fast.
He is getting an oval win at Dega or the Brickyard this year. I hope! How did this thread get left alone. At least one person has to talk about juan in a bad way. I guess Jr is in the topic du jour!

The other 42 drivers out there know how fast he is, they don't want to help him cause they know they'll get beat by him.

JPM wont win a plate race any time soon I'd say, Everytime he starts shuffling around at the front it seems he makes a rediculous mistake as in slight to heavy contact, everytime he gets anywhere near the front he gets left out to dry or moved to the middle lane real fast. I think 14th is a great finish and start to the year for Montoya, I can only believe had the race went to the end he would have been pin balled right to the back.
Sometimes its a bit over the top like last year at Watkins where the question wasn't "is Montoya going to win" rather it was " who was going to punt Montoya" On both Saturday and Sunday he was punted while having a very capable winning car.

I think the nickname "fire" only came about because his teammate was Kimi Raikonnen, whose nickname was "The Iceman". JPM was supposed to melt the iceman and even had a character doing so painted on his helmet. But obviously things did not go to plan, some his fault, some because of politics and now he's here. The caution caught him out and he was playing catch up the rest of the race.
